Journalist, newspaper editor (of Evening Post). Manager of the United Press Association in 1878; member of the Provincial Council for Wellington City; member of the Wellington City Council. Member of the Antient Free and Accepted Masons of New Zealand. Ensign in the NZ Militia in 1869. Husband of Isabella Jackson Gillon (1846?-1881). Buried in the family plot at Bolton Street Cemetery, Wellington. See DNZB (Vol 2, 1870-1900, G9)
