Potter, lithographer, artist, writer. Son of writer and historian James Cowan (1870-1943) and Eileen Constance (née Stowell; fl 1913-1959). Married Juliet Peter (1915-2010). Description: Children's drawings which were originally housed in the scrapbook with the reference number (MSZ-1688). Created by Roy (James Robson) Cowan and [possibly] John Cowan, the sons of James and Eileen Cowan. Most of the drawings are of ships and related themes. One drawing includes a map of the Pacific Ocean and is attributed to Roy Cowan, and dated 8 June 1934. Some of the drawings relate to Abel Tasman and other explorers of the Pacific, and one relates to James Cowan's publication "Tales of the Maori Coast". Quantity: 1 folder(s).
