MP (National Party) for Rangitikei, 1954-1972; Minister of Health, and of Social Security 1960-1962; Minister of Customs, 1962-1969; Minister of Industries and Commerce, and of Mines, 1969-1972. Educated in Feilding, worked as branch Manager (Marton) with Hodder & Tolley Ltd before being elected to Parliament in 1954. Married in 1935 to Dorothy Mamie (née Stevens). Served in World War Two, Pacific, Egypt and Italy, 2 NZEF 1943-1946. Personal papers held at Archives New Zealand. [WWNZ 11 ed]
