Redwood, Francis William (Archbishop), 1839-1935

Roman Catholic archbishop. Became Bishop of Wellington in 1874, and Archbishop of Wellington and Metropolitan of New Zealand in 1887. Remained Archbishop for over 50 years until his death in 1935.

He signed his name with "s.m." after his surname to acknowledge his profession into the Society of Mary [s.m. = Societatis Mariae].
