Adopted daughter of John and Ellen Ballance. She was adopted in 1886 at the age of 4 years. She was named Florence Anderson, and was the niece of Ellen (née Anderson). She was re-christened as Kathleen. Died 28 Apr 1942 at Rapanui, in her 59th year (Evening post, 5 May 1942, p 1)
