Crombie, J N, 1827-1878

Photographer, businessman. Auckland photographer, born in Scotland; came to New Zealand from Melbourne where he had worked with Meade Brothers, travelled to the Southern Provinces on the 'Zingari' 19 Sep 1856, returning to Auckland in 1858. Honourable mention in the International Exhibition, London, 1862. Active in Auckland 1854-1873. (Source: Main & Turner. "New Zealand photography from the 1840s to the present". 1993).
