Terawhiti Station

One of New Zealand's oldest sheep stations situated on Wellington's south coast, west of Tongue Point. Founded 1840s by William Barnard Rhodes, who had purchased the land from William Mein Smith and another man, and who sold it to James McMenamen. The 13,000 acre station is still owned by the same family as the Terawhiti Farming Company Ltd. (Pers. comm. from Michael Grace, 1 July 2002)
