Peters, Winston Raymond (Rt Hon), 1945-

National MP for Hunua, 1978-1981, and for Tauranga, 1984-1993. Resigned from National Party and was elected as independent MP for Tauranga in a by-election, April 1993. Founded the New Zealand First Party, July 1993, and was elected New Zealand First MP for Tauranga, November 1993. Deputy Prime Minister following the 2017 election.
