Bragge, J, 1833-1908

Photographer in Wellington and the Wairarapa. Baptised in June 1833 at South Shields, Durham, England. Came to New Zealand 1865, and soon had a studio in Manners St, Wellington, advertised as the New Zealand Academy of Photographic Art. He later had a studio in Lambton Quay from at least 1879 to the 1890s. Bragge exhibited photographs of Wellington )commissioned by the City Council) at the Melbourne International Exhbition in 1880. See DNZB (Vol 2, 1870-1900, p54-55). Known years of operation 1871, 1872/3, 1883/4, 1887/8, 1894/95, 1902.
