Ngati Porou; wood carver, farmer, rehabilitation officer, writer, genealogist. Son of Tamati Taiapa and Maraea Te Iritawa of Te Whanau-a-Hinerupe. Elder brother of Hone Taiapa (1911-1979). See DNZB (Vol 4, 1921-1940, p511-512, T3). Coach of a NZEF rugby team which won the NZ Divisional Rugby championship in Tripoli in 1943. From the East Coast.
