Maketu Wharetōtara, -1842, Makutu, -1842

Nga Puhi youth, farmworker, murderer. Maketu was executed in Auckland after trial in 1842 for the murder of Mr John Roberton and his wife Elizabeth Roberton on Motuarohia or Roberton Island in the Bay of Islands. See Dictionary of New Zealand Biography (1990, Vol. 1, 1769-1869, p262)
