Description

A reproduction of a photograph, showing Te Hauhau, a Maori chief or priest, seated at the entrance of a carved and painted wharenui. He is clad in formal Maori clothing with huia feathers in his hair and is holding a taiaha, point down, in front of him.

Inscriptions: Recto - top left - in red ink: Approved. John White. Also in pencil, top left: Approved. Rather dim photo. 31st Jny 88. Also below image in red ink: Whare puni (at Te Kuiti); Verso - in ink: Mr White. Put on the name. (followed by initials and the date) 31 7 88
