Edwin, Robert Atherton, 1839-1911

Meteorologist. Born London. Naval cadet on HMS Victory, Firebrand and Albion during Crimean War. Commander, Royal Navy. Joined New Zealand public service in 1871 and became the first director of the meteorological service in 1900, holding the post until 1907.
