Carlyon, George Gwavas, 1824-1875

Son of Major-General Edward Carlyon, George also served in the Imperial Army. Emigrated to New Zealand spent two years in the Hutt and in 1859 bought portion of Gwavas Station, Hawkes Bay. Represented Waipukurau on the HB Provincial Council. (His brother Edward Augustus Carlyon 1823-74, was a lawyer. Represented Te Aute in the HB Provincial Council 1867-71.)
