Born Wellington; educated Trinity College, Cambridge; Gray's Inn 1929. Admitted NZ 1930. Partnership Bell Gully Mackenzie Buxton & Blundell 1936. Served 2NZEF 1939-1944, rank lieutenant-colonel. Married 1945 June Halligan, 2 children. President Wellington District Law Society 1951; President NZ Law Society 1962-1968; Vice-President Law Society of Asia and the Western Pacific 1966.
