Godley, John Robert, 1814-1861

Lawyer, writer, administrator, public servant. Married Charlotte Griffith (née Wynne; 1821-1907). Prime mover in establishment of the Canterbury Association in 1848, leading to the founding of the Canterbury Settlement.
