HMS Acheron (Ship : 1838-1855)

Wood paddle sloop of the Royal Navy. Between 1848 and 1851 she made a coastal survey of New Zealand, the first such survey since Captain James Cook's more limited surveys. The Acheron was under the command of Captain Lort Stokes. She was sold in Sydney during the 1850s
