Piron, Jean, active 1791-1794

Draughtsman aboard the ship Recherche under d'Entrecasteaux, 1791-1794. See New Zealand seen by the French, by Roger Collins - catalogue of an exhibition in the National Library of New Zealand 1990, for biographical notes. A reference in an 1817 letter from his sister suggests that he may have died in 1796, but there is also some ambiguous evidence that he was still alive in 1799. His first name is given as Jean in an article by Edward Duyker in National Library of Australia news, March 2006
