Te Whiti o Rongomai, - 1907

Te Whiti o Rongomai was a prophet and central figure of Parihaka Pā, Taranaki. A former follower of Te Ua and Pai Mārire, he and Tohu Kākahi were present at the 1866 battle of Waikoukou. After the battle, they established themselves at Parihaka Pā, and both were arrested during the Government advance on the pā in 1881. Te Whiti o Rongomai died at Parihaka in November 1907.
