New Zealand National Party

National Party (New Zealand)

The party had its genesis in the decision, in September 1931, of the United Party, then the government (Rt Hon G W Forbes, Prime Minister), and the Reform Party (Rt Hon J G Coates), Leader and former Prime Minister, 1925-1928, to form a coalition government (see An Encylcopaedia of NZ Vol 2 p807 for fuller details)
