James Smith's shop, Te Aro House, on the corner of Cuba and Dixon Streets, Wellington. Ths photogrpah was originally described as having "the windows arranged for the closing down sale in 1866". The origin of this informatoin is not clear, as James Smith opened the store in 1866 and closed it to move to other premises in 1898. James Smith opened his store in this building in 1866.
