Photograph of Te Awaiti whaling station, Arapawa Island, Marlborough Sounds, attributed to Robina Nicol, taken circa 1895-1925, showing a wide view of pier in a bay with a party of people on the pier looking at rowboats tied alongside, small houses below a steep hillside in background. On the shoreline is visible: a shed at the pier end, two shelters for long rowboats, pallets, barrels, fences (possibly partly made of whale ribs), and whale bones scattered on the beach. On left of frame are two women beside a small graveyard
