Industrial war effort photographs

Photographs taken between 1939 and 1945, mostly by John Dobree Pascoe, for official publicity overseas during World War 2. Subjects covered include agriculture, coal mining, munitions manufacture, military activity and civilian life.
In addition to J D Pascoe, this collection contains the work of other photographers, from New Zealand and overseas.
Arrangement: Collection consists of mounted prints, numbered I.A. 1 to I.A. 1300. Individual prints are catalogued in the sequence PAColl-0783-2-0001 to PAColl-0783-2-1300. Negatives housed at 1/4-0001 to 002100, 003001 to 003003, 020963, 023739 to 023740, 032240 to 032305, 1/2-003624 to 003272.
Quantity: 2200 b&w original negative(s) approximately. 1500 b&w original photographic print(s) approximately.
Provenance: At the suggestion of J D Pascoe, the Department of Internal Affairs offered to the Alexander Turnbull Library the collection of photographs taken by Pascoe for overseas publicity during the Second World War. The prints were received by the Library in November 1947, and the negatives were to follow in 1948. See file TL 6/1/30 for further information.
