Map of Te Kohia (L) Pa at the commencement of the Taranaki Wars, stating that at the time of the attack the pa contained about 80 to 100 Maori. Shows the entrance, the line of skirmishes from the rear of the pa, Johnson and Sarten's track, Lethbridge's track to the flag, the place where John Sarten fell. Note reads 'First shot fired in Maori War (attack on 'L' Pa) March 17 1860'.

Includes inset of Plan showing locality of L Pa, Block III Paritutu S. Dis[trict]. (Scale [ca.1:3 960]). Depicts Devon, Waitara, Mamaku Roads, the railway line, Parts 20, 21, 29, and site of Pa in Part 29.
