Steam locomotive 492, Wg class, type 4-6-4T, built by NZR Hillside. Three Railway employees stand on the left. Photograph taken by Albert Percy Godber between 1912 and 1949 at Lower Hutt.
Note on back of file print reads "Godber 99, p 4"
"Wg" 492 entered service on the 21st of August 1912 and was written off in February 1956 (Information from the 'Register of New Zealand Railways steam locomotives, 1863-1971' by W G Lloyd, 1974, page 64.)
This image is reproduced in "Cavalcade of New Zealand locomotives" by A N Palmer and W W Stewart (P 100) which says where the photograph was taken.
