Description

Nona Hunter (front right), Joan Craig (at rear), Grace Cornwall, and Mavis Ring at the Newlands Country Women's Institute's golden anniversary. The women are holding the original banner of the Newlands Institute worked by some of the first members. Photographed by Evening Post staff photographer Merv Griffiths on the 16th of March 1984.

The Newlands branch of the Country Women's Institute was established in 1934. About 70 past and present members attended the golden anniversary in March 1984 which was held at Newlands School.
