Relationship complexity - A considerable collection of Mary Crowther's diaries were donated to the Library as part of the Roy Nelson bequest in 1988. These are at 88-248-04 and cover the years 1916 to 1951, some 26 volumes. The connection between Roy Nelson and Mary Crowther was scouting; she was associated with the Scout movement for many years. The 1885 diary begins on Mary Crowther's 16th birthday; the 1958 diary ends with her entry into hospital on 8 July. She died 16 August.
