Shows Mount Taranaki in the background with two flat-topped hills, with the Waimate Pa in the middle distance on the shore, the sea in the foreground and two of the ship's boats from H. M. S. Alligator. Indicates position of cannon, and a rock where Mrs Guard was seated on the shore.
