Binding: calf stamped in black with repeating pattern, triple gold outer fillet and inner rolled border, spine gold tooled with decorated compartments, brown leather spine labels, raised spine bands, gold tooled edges and turn-ins, cream endpapers, gilt text edges. Binder's stamp on front flyleaf: Bound by Riviere and Son. Bookseller's ticket on front pastedown: Robson & Kerslake. Endpapers watermarked with fleur-de-lis and countermark "D." Provenance: bookplate of Alex H. Turnbull ; pencil note by AHT below 2nd portrait of Milton. Purchased by A. H. Turnbull from Bernard Quaritch in 1892. Acc. 352738.
