Description: Survey map of the fence line along No.5 paddock of Taumahapu Station including the part which adjoins the road from Kereru to Tikokino. What appears to be a track runs alongside most of the fence. Accompanied by an envelope on which is written in pencil 'Distance new fence in No 5'. The envelope is addressed to 'A.G. Mowat, Esq., Taumahapu, Tikokino' and was franked at Napier on 8th December 1943. Shelved with map Pencilled note on map: The distance will be a bit longer than I have shown Includes an arithmetical sum of various distances of the fence. Description: Photograph of McRae's Hotel, Te Wairoa taken by the Burton Brothers before the eruption of Mount Tarawera on 10 Jun 1886. In the foreground are two small Maori boys and areas fenced off for the growing of vegetables. The area in the immediate foreground has one wall constructed from blocks of earth while the other sides of the fenced enclosure are made from wooden stakes. Provenance: Dr P M Barclay of Middlesborough England donated this and two other works to Tauranga District Libraries in 1989; he had inherited the work from his grandfather who was surgeon to the 43rd Monmouth Light Infantry Regiment, although the surgeon himself did not serve in New Zealand.

Description: Illustrated booklet showing different fences and gates available. There are illustrations of the Anchor clamp and ratchet, a method for setting end corner posts, styles of 6-wire fences, wire-bound gates, the Anchor fence hurdle, ornamental fences (six designs shown), and residence gates. Includes photographs of staff at the Anchor Fence company, with buildings of the Massey-Harris Company adjacent. There are also photographs of fences on the properties of S I Ffitch esq Dallington, and H P Slater esq Sandilands, New Brighton Road. Page 30 shows testimonials from S I Ffitch (Dallington, Christchurch), W B Clarkson (Riccarton, Christchurch), Gilbert Jackson (Christchurch), H P Slater (Christchurch). The cover shows an illustration of a farmer surveying an injured horse lying with its legs entangled in a barbed wire fence while another horse and sheep look on.
