Description: Survey map of the Umukereru Block in the Wainuioru Survey District, from Te Waiwhakaata southwards to the Wainuioru Stream. Shows boundaries, streams, and shared boundaries with neighbouring Maori land blocks, Tikiwhakairo and Weraawhaitiri (associated with Angapaua). The Umukereru Block has been surveyed into four sections with 500 acres as government land, 100 acres (beside Kahaparera), 632 and 541 acres. Note on map states boundaries were pointed out by Ngāti Pareru hapū and claimed by them. Annotations added to map before copying, now faint include the settler names: James Cooper on the 541 acres and ?Oroui ?Kauo on the government land. Drawn on a Lands and Surveys template map. Inscriptions: Recto - top centre - Boundaries pointed out by Ngati Parera, Claimed by ---d, Wairarapa-Meridional Circuit; Recto - bottom centre - I hereby certify that this survey has been made under my own inspection, that it is correct and that all the rules and regulations with respect to the survey of Native lands have been strictly compiled with. Description: A collection of map information from various sources from 1858-1892. The maps no. 1-6 and 8 contain information from Native Land Court plans of the 1880's, Survey Office road plans, Lands and Survey's first amendment (Mr Cussen's topographical survey), a map by S. Percy Smith, and the Sub-Atlas committee. The information has been added in different pens and hand writing eg "Plan marked from Hokianga" or "no track here shown by Mr Cussen". The map marked no. 7 shows military information from the New Zealand wars eg "Troops to be sent to Waikaremoana via Ahikereru - Ruatahuna Huiarau from Taupo". Shows some native tracks eg "from Heruiwi" and corrections or previous omissions. Map no. 9 shows tracks on N.L.C. plans, one of which "is away at the Court". The maps show very little signs of any settlement, except No. 3 and 6 "Tapuaeharuru Pa" and "Te Pueto Stn". A mission station, a native settlement and a school are also indicated. The maps cover the region from Hokianga, Kawhia Harbour, Mokau River, Waikato River, Tirau, Taupo to Rotorua on maps 1-6, 8 and Rotorua to Waikaremoana to Poverty Bay on maps 7 and [9]. All maps depict rivers. Map 7 and [9] are maps with annotations. They are on the published base map "Four-mile sheet, No. 10" (Wellington, New Zealand Lands and Surveys, 1935). Description: Survey map with cadastral information of elongated subdivisions of section 42, Block ten, Belmont Survey District, off Naenae Road and totalling over 45 acres. Land owners are named as His Majesty the King (for housing purposes), and four Native land subdivisions are owned by 'Native owners'. Adjacent sections are owned by the Crown, G Hall, E Anderson, GE Chapman, AM Lewis and CS Brandon, HB Robb, JJ & LE Toomer, JM Reid, J Reilly, EE Jones, FJ Hickman, W Russell, A Lerwill, R Munger, G Purvis. Note: Boundaries adopted from N[ative] L[and] Plans 1203, 2387, 4319 - see report. Signed by chief surveyor and others. PWD 109023. Accompanied by covering letter which explains the land has been taken by the Public Works Department for housing purposes. It provides a government valuation of the land and requests Thomson and East to value the land for Native Land Court purposes, and is signed by the Chief Land Purchase Officer, GD Brosnan.; PW 24/1258/47/13.
