Description: Contains a detailed account of the migration from Hawaiki to New Zealand of the Takitimu canoe, and the subsequent exploration of New Zealand by Tamatea; also contains an account of the courting of Rongomaiwahine by Kahungunu Contains some karakia written at Tuparoa, in September 1868, at the request of the Ngati Porou runanga . One page (XIV) says "the above is copied from the journal kept by Wi Te Haua of the Ngati expedition to the assistance of the Maori King in 1863". The volume also contains waiata from Mohi Turei and Anaru Taruke. Also contain accounts of the activities of various demi-gods including Tawhaki, Maui, Wahieroa and Tinirau, and accounts of early iwi ancestors in New Zealand including Tara, Manaia and Pourangahua (this includes details of the fetching of the kumara from Hawaiki) Also contains an account of the death of Te Wakaunua of Ngati Hineuru (?) in the middle of the 19th century Quantity: 1 volume(s).
