One photograph shows Rhoda McWhannell's parents (William Duncan Ross McCurdie and Olga Mariquita McCurdie) reading congratulatory messages on their Golden Wedding Anniversary. This album gives the date as 1942, but a previous album gives it as 1941. Rex Hamilton, Bill Hewett and Frederick McWhannell are photographed in military uniform. Description: Album of photographs taken by Albert Percy Godber between 1912 and 1914. Images include Godber's family, a few of identified people (names listed in the name file), and many with no identification. One image of a group of fitters and turners apprentices at the Petone Railway Workshops, taken in 1913, has all the apprentices named (listed in the full record for Godber negative, APG-0457-1/2) Views of the old Central Fire Station at Petone, and the new Petone Fire Brigade Station; the aftermath of a huge fire at Cooks' Cooperage (on January 14, 1914); and a locomotive which had rolled. Local Petone scenes include the Petone Council Chambers and town clock, and a number of houses in the area, including the home of Godber's friend Tom Mather; Korokoro bush, and the Korokoro Reservoir. Away from the Wellington area, Godber photographed a number of houses in Clonbern Road area; the Makatote Viaduct and the Manganui-o-te-Ao Viaduct. Description: Album of early New Zealand scenes, mainly taken by the Burton Brothers. Images include gold digging, gold dredging (image of Sew Hoy's dredge), and gold sluicing, one showing the flume on a Scandinavian race at St Bathans. There are a number of views of the Pink and White Terraces, scenes of Maori life in the King Country, and scenic views of Dunedin and the Queenstown-Lakes District. Description: Transparency slides of Mr E G Williams' (Edmund Gardner Williams') travel in New Zealand in 1959. This sheet of slides has two sequences which are not in chronological order. (Information from his diary). Slides nos. 433-443 show areas of the North Island around the Dargaville and Whangarei area, including Maungatapere peak, the Wairua Gorge and Wairua Falls, the Whangaroa volcanic ridge and tree ferns, McLeod Bay and pampas grass, Whangarei from Memorial Hill, the Whangarei Falls, and Whangarei Heads. These were taken sometime between April and May 1959. Slides nos. 444-456 show parts of the South Island including Invercargill; Bluff, a lighthouse near Bluff; the Invermay Agricultural Centre on the Taieri Plains; Dunedin, Otago Harbour, Larnach Castle, and early steam engines on display in Dunedin; section of road between Dunedin and Christchurch taken from a bus. These were taken circa February 16-21 1959. Slides on this sheet are numbered 433-456 with no gaps. Arrangement: None of this sheet of slides were taken as part of a representative collection on New Zealand for various lectures which he gave when he returned to England.
