Description: Cadastral map showing numbered sections, with boundary measurements, between Adelaide Road, Lavaud Street and South Road (now Rintoul). Blythe Road, Pitt (now Chatham) and Dawson streets are named. Includes a school reserve. Similar to DP 787, Wellington Land District, held by Land Information New Zealand Title supplied by cataloguer Quantity: 1 manuscript map(s). Description: Photographs of the Wellington region, and family snapshots. Many of the images give information about camera speed and light, and time of day taken. Not all the people are identified, with one family dominating the portraits, members of the Spackman family, living in Rintoul Street, Newtown in the 1890s. Herbert Spackman is shown with his wife (Daisy Spackman), and daughter (Sylvia?), and can also be seen at work in the New Zealand Government Life Insurance offices. There is one group portrait of staff members of the office. Another link to the family is seen in photographs of St Thomas' Church in Newtown, both exterior views while undergoing additions, and interior views; and one image of choir members at St Thomas'. There are also interior and exterior views of St Paul's Pro-Cathedral (now known as Old St Paul's) Other images include views of Wellington bays, interior and exterior views of Horace William Lloyd's premises (watchmaker, jeweller and optician) in Lambton Quay, the Newtown tennis court opening, the home of Josephus Hargreaves Richardson (chief commissioner of the Government Life Insurance), interior views of a house with a baby lying asleep in a cot, and Marshall's houses in Worser Bay, alongside J. Marshall's Pilot Store (General Store & Refreshment Rooms). Description: Consists of two maps, one on each side of the sheet, both surveying a Native (Maori) Reserve between Russell Terrace and Adelaide Road, Newtown (near Berhampore), Wellington. Map one, 'Survey of N[ative] R[eserve] Newtown' shows survey measurements and markings across area named Newtown and survey compass measurements in a 360 degree circle. Includes the names Matene and Ihaka. Map two, '[Native (Maori) Reserve sections bounded by Adelaide Road, South Road, Russell Terrace and Wharepori Road, Newtown, Wellington, showing Maori owners]'. Shows one acre sections, part surveyed, numbered 972 - 989 and 994 - 1007. Also marks Reserve no. 215 alongside Section 971. Sections show names of Maori owners: Nakora Te Manukarioe; Waaka, Taura; Mita Metiria; Ihaka Te Row (Rou), Ehara; Akauihi; Taniati Te Wera; Huikana Ngapaui; Teira Te Watakore; Rapaua Te Owhiro; Harata, Maria; Paora Teretu; Tiare Te Hua; Kuraheke; Ihikiera, Apikaira (some spelling difficult to decipher, so may not be correct). Written in several places on map 'N.R.' (Native (Maori) Reserve). Includes several survey calculations in pencil.
