Description: Shows Takitahi Pa on the South Canterbury Plains with the Southern Alps in the background. There is a low fence surrounding a group of low whare and tall food platforms. At the far right is another similar enclosure. The name Takitahi appears at the top right, partly overwritten by the names of the distant peaks: Rowley Peak, Mt Tyrrell [?], Mt Peel, S Dom. The papers of George Montagu, the 6th Duke of Manchester and William Montagu, the 7th Duke, contain material relating to their properties on the Darling Downs, Christchurch and the Manawatu region, around Feilding and Halcombe (The Manchester Block). Also contain information on the Emigrant and Colonists Aid Corporation, and other emigration schemes. Papers from the Thornhill and Linton family collections.
