Also on left, is the St Elmo boarding house, on a hilltop, silhouetted by distant hills, with verandah facing the camera. To the left of St Elmo, side on, is Rosamond House. Description: A view of the waterfront at Kawhia, Waikato region, with St Elmo boarding house in the foreground. Includes a cliff at each end of the inlet and houses around the harbour. At the far end amongst some houses is a large Norfolk Pine tree. The two storey building immediately behind the Norfolk pine had a business on the ground floor and a hall above which was called Scott's Hall. Photograph taken between 1908-1915 by Jonathan Ltd. August 2022, researcher provided information about the two storey building immediately behind the Norfolk pine It was built in 1903. and later became known as Ward's Hall and was used as a cinema from about 1914 to the early 1950s. Large two-storey building on Jerome Street (later known as Jervois Street) is Hotel Moana built 1904. Also shows the post office (seaward side of the Hotel); Jonathan's Ltd (two along from the seaward side of the post office); the Courthouse built 1908 (to right of the two Norfolk pines); site of Motu Ngaio Pa (on hill above town, with a few houses). View looking directly up Queen Street with Endeans Building (built 1905) on the left and the Gladstone building (built 1883), with Gladstone Coffee Palace, on the right. On the far right is the head office of the Auckland Harbour Board; all in Quay Street. On the left new concrete piles are being driven into the harbour bed. In the foreground workmen are replacing wooden blocks on the old wharf.
