Description: Shows a miner in a blue coat, beige trousers and banded hat, crossing a river using a fallen log. He carries his pick across his shoulder. Two huts, one with its chimney smoking, sit nestled on the other side of the river in the surrounding dense bush. Tree ferns, toe toe, harakeke and cabbage trees can be seen, amongst other types. A tree in the foreground on the left has a Northern Rata, which winds around the trunk of its host Inscriptions: Recto - bottom left - J C Hoyte [in brushpoint; date obsured by matt] Quantity: 1 watercolour(s).
