Description: The Bank of New Zealand on the corner of Grey Street and George Street, Port Chalmers. Beyond the bank, in George Street, there is a wooden bath house. To the left, in Grey Street is the partially obscured sign for John Dale's grocer shop. Photographed probably in the 1870s by David Alexander De Maus. Dated from comparison with a later photograph (1/1-002569-G) taken between 1880 and 1884, which shows the bank building, but does not show the bathhouse, instead there are much more ornate stone buildings in its place.
