He rākau i heria mai e ngā Māori, engari kāore i ū ki te whenua nei. Wehea ai te iho o te kiri, ka patupatua kia ngāwari hei maro.

Scope note

This plant was formerly used to produce a type of tapa cloth in North Auckland. Brought to Aotearoa by Māori it died out in the early 19th century.
