Applying the Treaty of Waitangi to 21st century law and policy
In this presentation we will examine the application of the Treaty of Waitangi and its principles to current legal and policy issues. In particular, we will discuss the way in which the Waitangi Tribunal’s role is changing as the inquiries into historical claims are completed and how the Tribunal has applied Treaty principles to contemporary issues such as the protections provided for traditional knowledge and the negotiation of the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement.
