Come learn about Fiji's Deed of Cession to Great Britain
Celebrate Fijian Language Week from 3-9 October with the theme Noqu Vosa Me’u Bula Taka (My Language, Learn it, Speak it, Live it).
Did you know the 10th of October is a significant date for Fiji? Before it became the date of independence from Great Britain, it was the date Fiji was ceded to Great Britain.
Want to find out who was behind Fiji being ceded to Great Britain? Or which Fijian chiefs signed the Deed of Cession? Come along and find out more as the chairman of the Fijian Language week Komiti Sai Lealea gives a presentation on Fiji’s Deed of Cession to Great Britain.
Following the presentation will be a documentary Vanua: a story of Fiji by Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara.
