Little curators' workshop

Part of School holidays 2022 series

Experience what it is like to be a curator for a day! Learn about what it takes to create an exhibition and meet a professional curator.

What does it take to make an exhibition?

To find out the answer to this question, join the Little Curators’ Workshop and be a curator for the day!

Make an object label

The object label tells us everything we need to know about the object. We’ll explore examples in our current exhibitions and create our own using your own precious object. If it’s too precious to take from the kāinga, you’re welcome to use a photograph.

Learn from an expert

Did you know that the National Library building is home to over 6 million collection items? Imagine how hard it would be to pick which items go on display!

Meet a real life curator who has to make those very difficult decisions. We’ll discover more about their role and what sparks their curiosity.

Go on a top secret tour

Unearth the secrets of our collections in our top-secret tour. You’ll have to join us on the day to find out where we go!
