Who this learning event is for

  • School library staff who want to strengthen library/classroom connections.
  • Primary, intermediate, and secondary school teachers and literacy leaders.

What you'll learn

  • Understand how the library impacts literacy, learning, and student well-being, using current guidelines and research.
  • Learn ways to collaborate effectively to maximise library services for students.
  • Further develop your skills in advocacy to support school library development.
  • Explore strategies to build 'reading for well-being' programmes in your school.
  • Discover books that help encourage inclusion, develop empathy, and boost mood.
  • Understand how the school library can be a place of well-being for students.
  • Improve your professional practice by applying what you learn to your own school context.

What you'll do

  • Look at examples of highly effective school library practice.
  • Explore how to identify and work with collaborators in your school community.
  • Plan practical advocacy strategies you can implement in your school.
  • Understand more about the benefits of reading for well-being.
  • Identify books and ideas to support student well-being.
  • Learn from other participants by sharing ideas and practice.
  • Reflect on your learning and create an action plan to implement back at school.
