Come to this illustrated talk, about Margaret Mahy’s "classic" New Zealand book The Changeover. Professor Kathryn Walls explores differences between the recent film version and Mahy’s original novel.
Kathryn Walls isolates the considerable extent to which the recent movie version, directed by Miranda Harcourt and Stuart McKenzie departs from Mahy’s novel.
She argues that the film replaces the satisfying psychological orientation in the book with features familiar to us from the Duffer Brothers science fiction horror series, "Stranger Things".
