“There’s a hurricane smashing, trashing, bashing through our house.  CRASH! BANG! WALLOP!”

What an opening! The first page of Hurricane Wills jumps straight into the action, engaging you from the very beginning and making you want to read on.  Wills is the hurricane in this story which is told from the point of view of his younger brother Chris. It isn’t easy when a sibling has ADD and everyone in this family parents included, is trying really hard to maintain a normal family life.

While the author pulls no punches about the impact of ADD this story is sympathetic to the family’s struggles and at the same time optimistic as they weather a crisis and start to rebuild their family life.

Recommended for Years 5-8 students who enjoy realistic fiction, this title also has potential as a read aloud.
