The Friends support the Library's children's literature collections – consisting of the Dorothy Neal White, National Children's and Susan Price collections – through events, publications and a scholarship.

Events

The Friends hold meetings and lectures several times a year. Topics typically include:

• a report on research using the three children’s literature collections

• themed readings from books in the collections, such as Christmas stories or poetry

• an illustrated lecture and readings from books in the current children’s literature display, such as Cautionary tales.

Publications

The Friends publish two to three newsletters each year. They also publish Notes-Books-Authors, featuring articles on a diverse range of children's literature topics.

Scholarships

The Friends offer an annual scholarship to a student enrolled in a Masters or PhD programme at Victoria University of Wellington who intends to undertake research that will make use of the Dorothy Neal White, National Children's or Susan Price Collections
