Tiakiwai Conference Centre
Tiakiwai is one of the streams that run off Te Ahumairangi, the hill that dominates the skyline behind Thorndon. The Tiakiwai Conference Centre sits off our own Te Ahumairangi, the ground floor of the National Library building in Wellington.
The Centre offers two seminar rooms, Pipitea and Thorndon. Book one for your meeting, function, or event, or both together when you need more space.
When you get in touch, please let us know your preferred time and date, any catering requirements, your contact details (including your organisation, if applicable), whether you would like to book one or both rooms, and how you would like the room set up. We'll get back to you quickly to make sure everything meets your needs.
Each room is 62 square metres, and can be set up in many different ways. If you book both seminar rooms, they can be opened up onto each other for easy use.
When you make a booking, you choose how you want us to set it up.

Equipment and furnishings
Both rooms are fully furnished with tables and chairs in your selected arrangement.
Pipitea also has a Hitachi interactive projector, a porcelain board, ceiling speakers, and a keypad control panel.
Thorndon has a Hitachi high performance LCD projector, a 130” motorised screen, video conferencing capability, ceiling speakers, and a wi-fi touch screen control panel.
You can book our plate-up kitchen along with a seminar room for an extra fee, if you prefer to manage your own catering.
You can arrange to have external caterers deliver to our venue. If you need suggestions, our venue team can provide some options.
You or your caterer will need to supply crockery and other materials, including cups and saucers.
If you are serving alcohol at your event, we will supply a duty manager for an extra fee.
