Description: Contains letter (in three sheets) dated 26 August 1839 from Bumby to General Secretaries with an account of his voyage from the Bay of Islands to Wellington, thence to Mana Island and on to Kawhia, including visit to Te Rauparaha and problems with the New Zealand Company, received at London on 14 May 1840. Also correspondence between Rev. John Beecham and John Ward (three sheets) containing copies of their letters sent to Bumby, 26 June 1840, no date, and 18 July 1841, and another from Beecham to Bumby, 23 July 1840 concerning the dispute with the Company over mission lands at Wellington. Also copies of correspondence between Whiteley and Shortland 20 May 1841, enclosing papers by Hobson on proceedings at Port Nicholson. Also a Maori deed Te Rahui o Okura, dated 29 January 1840 and a related copy of the school land deed for Okura dated 12 January 1854, also in Maori. Other miscellaneous documents, some printed, include a prostpectus for the Wesleyan College and Seminary, Auckland (no date), printed extracts from Wesleyan Missionary Notices for 1843, a letter of commendation from pupils of Wesleyan Sannath School, Lyttelton to Rev.James Buller and parts of New Zealand Government Gazette, Wellington Province, 1864, Wairoa Circuit account; Extension Fund report for 1855; account from Wesleyan Missionary Society, London for NZ, 1862-64; letter of recommendation for Mrs Lucy Stuart.
