Description: Unpublished and annotated vocal music scores, some with Māori lyrics and translations by Hare Hongi (Henry Stowell). Also includes some published scores. Includes: - "Maori Hymn to the Creator" which says (in pencil) "By Hare Hongi" and in ink "Dedicated to the Maori Race. Collected by 'Inheritage'. Rore J. Josephs. Music composed and arranged by Harry Hiscocks". The title page also has some music notation written in red ink, which appears to have been added by Henry Stowell. It also has Rore J. Josephs address, and a note saying "Presented to H. Burton. Rore J. Josephs 23.6.28". The score is written for voice and organ, with a four-part (SATB) chorus, and contains many references to Māori atua (gods). - "Song of New Zealand" words and music by Henry Ashworth, annotated by Henry Stowell. Also annotated on the title page by Ashworth "For Mr Parker, with compliments from author Henry Ashworth". On the first page of the score it says "Written and composed by Henry Asworth, an extract from his book 'The lover's dream'". It is dedicated to the "Youth of the Dominion of New Zealand". - "Ständchen/Through the Night" by Schubert, with a Māori translation handwritten in ink by Henry Stowell on the published score. - Two other handwritten music scores, one for "The Merry Blacksmith or The Honeymoon Reel" and one other.
