Do you have courses for me?
Our courses are designed for New Zealand school library staff and teachers. We offer introductory courses for new library staff, general courses for new and experienced library staff, and courses for teachers, literacy leaders, and library staff.
What do I need to take a course?
You can choose whether to take the course from home or school. You will need access to a computer and fast broadband to participate.
Each course requires at least 3 hours of your time a week, for 5 weeks. Give yourself dedicated time to work without interruptions – don't try and do it while running your school library!
If you plan to do the course in work time, make sure you've discussed your access arrangements with your principal.
How do the courses work?
Our courses use Moodle, hosted on the Virtual Learning Network (VLN), provided by the Ministry of Education.
Each course includes rich learning activities every week, including readings, videos, and some practical tasks. Courses can include individual activities, collaborative work, or both.
You'll have access to online discussions with other participants to help you collaborate.
Elements of the course, such as e-workshops done in groups, will have specific deadlines. You'll see the details in your course outline at the start.
What support can I get during the course?
You'll be helped through the course material by a trained e-facilitator, who will be your go-to person.
If it's your first course (or you want a refresher), you can work through the Introduction to Moodle module, which shows you how to use Moodle to get the most out of each course.
We also provide technical support and help documentation for when you're getting started or need a hand.
After completing one of our online courses, you'll receive a course completion certificate.
Earlybird discount: 20 percent
The earlybird discount applies to all registrations received by the stated close-off date, 4 weeks before the course start date. After this the full course fee applies.
Registrations close one week before each course.
